What a service can include
No two visits need exactly the same work. Depending on the pool and its condition, servicing can include:
- Professional on-site water testing and balancing
- Skimming and removal of surface and floor debris
- Vacuuming where required
- Emptying skimmer and pump baskets
- Backwashing and rinsing filters
- Cleaning or replacing filter cartridges where required
- Checking chlorinator output and controller settings
- Checking salt levels and salt chlorination systems
- Checking and topping up automatic chlorine or acid dosing systems where fitted
- Inspecting circulation, filtration and other pool equipment
- Cleaning salt cells when required
- Pool-cover handling where part of the service
- Recording anything that needs further attention
The work is based on what we find on site rather than completing unnecessary tasks simply because they appear on a standard checklist.
Water testing
We use professional photometric testing to give our technicians accurate information before making water-balancing decisions.
Depending on the pool and system, this can include chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, stabiliser, phosphates, calcium hardness and salt, along with relevant controller readings such as ORP.
Chemicals are then added according to what the pool actually requires. If suitable chemicals are already available at the property, we can use them rather than supplying duplicates unnecessarily.
Flexible servicing
Weekly, fortnightly and monthly servicing can be arranged depending on the pool and property. We also provide one-off servicing when a pool needs professional attention without an ongoing schedule.
Frequency does not have to remain fixed throughout the year. Warmer weather, heavier use, holiday occupancy and changing seasonal conditions can all alter how much attention a pool needs.
Equipment matters too
Water quality and equipment operation are closely connected, so regular servicing also includes keeping an eye on the system behind the pool.
That may mean checking pump operation, filter condition, chlorinator output, automatic dosing systems, cleaners and other equipment relevant to the property. If something is not operating normally, we let you know rather than simply treating the symptoms in the water.
PoolGuys can also provide fault finding, repairs, replacements and equipment installation where further work is required.
Who we service
- Residential pools and spas
- Holiday accommodation
- Agency-managed rental properties
- Commercial and strata pools
The priorities vary between those properties, so we adjust servicing rather than treating them all as the same job.
Servicing FAQs
How often should my pool be serviced?
It depends on the pool, equipment, usage and season. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly servicing are all available, and the frequency can be changed as circumstances change.
Do you offer one-off pool servicing?
Yes. You do not need to commit to regular servicing if the pool only needs occasional professional attention or help getting back on track.
Are chemicals included in the service price?
Chemicals are charged separately according to what is actually used. This avoids building a fixed chemical allowance into every visit regardless of what the pool needs.
Can you use chemicals already at the property?
Yes. If they are suitable for the pool and still usable, we can use chemicals you already have.
Do I need a service contract?
No. PoolGuys does not require customers to enter a service contract for regular servicing.
