Equipment we work with
We can help diagnose problems and advise on repairs, replacement or upgrades for common pool and spa equipment, including:
- Pool pumps
- Sand and cartridge filters
- Salt chlorinators
- Automatic chlorine and pH dosing systems
- Pool cleaners and robotic cleaners
- Pool heaters and heat pumps
- Pool controllers and automation equipment
- Filter media and cartridges
- Salt cells and associated chlorination equipment
Fault finding first
Equipment problems are not always caused by the component that first appears to be at fault. Poor flow, air in the system, blocked filtration, incorrect settings, worn parts or water chemistry can all affect how pool equipment behaves.
We start by looking at the system as a whole and working out what is actually happening. In many cases that means checking the equipment alongside the pool itself rather than treating it as an isolated appliance.
Repair or replace?
Not every fault means new equipment is required. Where a practical repair makes sense, we would rather discuss that option than replace working equipment unnecessarily.
Sometimes replacement is the better decision—for example when equipment is badly worn, repeatedly failing, inefficient or no longer economical to repair. Where there is a choice, we explain the options so you can decide what suits the pool and your budget.
New equipment and upgrades
When new equipment is required, it should suit the pool rather than simply fill the space left by the old unit. Pool size, plumbing, filtration requirements, existing equipment and how the property is used all affect the right choice.
PoolGuys can supply and install replacement equipment and help with upgrades where there is a practical reason to improve the existing system.
Signs something needs attention
- A pump that is noisy, leaking, losing prime or not moving water normally
- Weak circulation or poor return flow
- Filter pressure that is unusually high or low
- A chlorinator that is not maintaining chlorine as expected
- Error messages or unusual controller readings
- A cleaner that has stopped moving or cleaning effectively
- Heating equipment that is not reaching or maintaining temperature
- Repeated water problems despite normal servicing
These symptoms can have several causes, so identifying the underlying problem is usually more useful than guessing which part needs replacing.
Equipment and regular servicing
Many equipment problems first become noticeable during a routine pool visit. Our regular pool and spa servicing includes keeping an eye on how the filtration, chlorination and other equipment is operating and letting you know when something appears to need further attention.
Equipment FAQs
Do you repair pool pumps and chlorinators?
Yes. We can investigate common pump and chlorinator faults and advise whether repair or replacement is the sensible option.
Can you replace old pool equipment?
Yes. PoolGuys can supply and install replacement equipment and help select an option suited to the pool and existing system.
Should I repair or replace a faulty unit?
It depends on the fault, age and condition of the equipment, the likely repair cost and whether replacement offers a worthwhile improvement. We assess the equipment first rather than assuming replacement is necessary.
Can you upgrade my existing pool system?
Yes. If an upgrade would solve an existing problem or provide a useful improvement, we can advise on suitable equipment and installation.
Do I need to know what is broken before I call?
No. Tell us what the equipment is doing—or not doing—and we can start from there.
